1bromo2methylpropane 2li
The method of making alkyl lithium
is to prepare 1-bromo-2-methylpropane with lithium (Li). This is a common method for making alkyl lithium in organic synthesis.

Place 1-bromo-2-methylpropane in a dry reaction vessel and use an inert organic solvent such as anhydrous ether or tetrahydrofuran as a medium to create an anhydrous and oxygen-free environment. This is because lithium is active and easily reacts with water and oxygen, which affects the formation of products.

Then, slowly add lithium tablets or lithium powder. Immediately after the reaction, the bromine atom (Br) in 1-bromo-2-methylpropane undergoes a replacement reaction with lithium. The lithium atom replaces the bromine atom to form 1-2-methylpropyl lithium and lithium bromide (LiBr). The reaction formula is roughly as follows: 1-bromo-2-methylpropane + 2Li → 1-2-methylpropyl lithium + LiBr. When

reacts, it is necessary to pay attention to the control of temperature. If the temperature is too high, the reaction may cause runaway and cause side reactions; if the temperature is too low, the reaction rate will be slow and take a long time. Usually maintained at a low temperature environment, such as -78 ° C, to achieve the best reaction effect.

After the reaction is completed, pure 1-2-methylpropyl lithium can be obtained by separation and purification. This product has a wide range of uses in the field of organic synthesis. It can be used as a nucleophilic reagent, participates in many organic reactions, and is an important intermediate in organic synthesis.
